2022 AAU Club National Champions
Above Xpectations had a great showing, as athletes competed over four days for the AAU Region 2 National Qualifier meet. The team finished 2nd placed overall lead by a dominant showing the multi-events, where athletes compete in a variety events and earn points for each one which adds to a total point score for each competitor, over the first 2 days. AX athletes in 15-16 age group dominated the Decathlon, sweeping the event with a top 3 performance, led by Dallas Parker, followed by Donte Dockery for second and Miles Bliey for third. The 14 year old age group also finished 1-2 with Zymeir Reid taking first, in addition to the 100mH and Triple Jump, and Gary Blalock in second. Christian Martin (13) had a strong showing, winning the Javelin, High Jump and placed second in the Pentathlon.
On Day 2, In addition to dominate performances in the multi-events, the hurdlers also showcased many great performances. Ashley Johnson and Makiyah Cannon-Price (17-18) finished 1-2 in the 100mH, and Jalen Wright (15-16) and Yougendy Mauricette (17-18) took first overall in the 400mH. Jabaree Medine placed second in the 80mH with a PR, while Yougendy added a third place finish in the 100mH.
The last two days saw even more phenomenal marks from AX athletes. Jasyn Truitt ran to a PR and a win in the 200m in addition to his second place finish in the 100m. Gavin Blalock had a great performance in the 100m, coming in 2nd overall with a PR, as well as Bishop Lane (15-16) in the 400m. Every single relay scored points with the 15-16 4x100m, 17-18 men's 4x800m, and the 17-18 women’s and men’s 4x400m all taking first place. Our 17-18 men placed 2nd-5th in the High Jump, in addition to our 15-16 boys taking 2nd and 4th-7th in the Pole Vault. The Distance squad picked up three second place performances with Luis Gonzalez (10) and Karen Tanner (14) in the 1500m, and Hannah Heredia (17-18) in the 3000m.
This was another great showing by ALL Above Xpectations athletes who contributed to a second place team finish for the second meet in a row. Next up, AAU Club Nationals in Florida!

Over Memorial Day weekend, Above Xpectations Track Club traveled to Lawrenceville, GA where athletes competed at the 14th Annual Mark Trail Invitational. Our athletes had an impressive showing, as we finished second place as a team at an elite level meet.
On Friday May 28, 2021, competition kicked off with an impressive showing in the field events. Donte Dockery (15-16) placed first overall in the triple jump with a 45 feet personal best, while Zymeir Reid (13-14) placed 2nd and Dallas Parker (15-16) scored points with a 4th place finish. We also had Andre Green (17-18) placing second overall in the discus throw with a personal best 137 feet, Jeremiah Thompson (6 & Under) placing 2nd in the turbo javelin. Our 17-18 Boys 4x800 consisting of Markevis Brown, Christopher Moses, Devon George and Soren Smith finished first overall adding 10 points to the team total.
On Saturday May 29, 2021, as competition resumed, medals continued to pour in for our team. Jayla Holland-Hall (15-16) and Samantha (17-18) both finished first overall in the High Jump in their respective age groups, while our athletes dominated the Javelin event throughout different age groups with Dallas Parker (15-16) and Christian Martin (13-14) placing 2nd, Jeremy Gyan (17-18) placing 3rd. In the Shot Put, Jeremiah Thompson (6 & Under ) placed 2nd while, Andre Green finished 3rd with a throw of 41-01.50. On the track, Zymeir Reid (13-14) and Jabaree Medine (11-12) both placed 4th overall in the 100mH and 80mH respectively.
As competition concluded on Sunday, we had a great showing on the track with Karen Tanner (13-14) placing 4th in the 800m with a personal best of 2:28.88, Anaeja Ferrell (17-18) finishing 2nd in the 200m with a time 26.12 and Jasyn Truitt (15-16) placing 3rd with a time of 22.43. Boys 15-16 4x400m relay consisting of Donte Dockery, Jasyn Truitt, Bishop Lane, and Shaheam Porter placed 3rd with a time of 3:27:79 while our Mens 17-18 4x400m relay consisting of Devon George, Markevis Brown, Christopher Moses, and Soren Smith wrapped up the weekend's competition with a 2nd place finish with a time of 3:27.12.
As the season continues, stay tuned for more exciting competition. We will continue our showing at AAU Regional Qualifier in Millersville, PA Jun 17-20.
